MHT CET vs NEET 2016

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for medical aspirants was recently conducted on 1st May 2016 and wreaked havoc. The state level Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) will be held as scheduled on 5th May 2016 for future engineering, medical and pharmacy students. NEET is being made mandatory by the Supreme Court of India for medical aspirants in India. Below are key pointers for MHT CET vs NEET 2016.

MHT CET

  1. Not mandatory for medical aspirants
  2. Applicable for multiple medical courses
  3. Conducted by Government of Maharashtra, State Common Entrance Test Cell
  4. Valid for engineering and pharmacy students
  5. Exam conducted on a single day
  6. 45% marks criteria for general category and 40% for SC/ST/OBC
  7. 200 marks paper with each correct answer worth one mark
  8. Mathematics is one of the subjects as engineering aspirants appear for the exam
  9. No negative marking prevalent
  10. MHT CET was first conducted for the academic year 2004-2005

NEET

  1. Mandatory for medical aspirants
  2. Applicable for MBBS and BDS
  3. Conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education
  4. Invalid for engineering and pharmacy students
  5. Exam conducted in two phases
  6. 50% marks criteria for general category and 40% for SC/ST/OBC
  7. 720 marks paper with each correct answer worth four marks
  8. Physics, chemistry and biology are the subjects for the exam
  9. Negative marking prevalent
  10. NEET was first conducted for the academic year 2013-2014
