Validity of NEET 2016 in Doubt?

The ruckus surrounding medical entrance exams does not seem to end. First, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2016 conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was declared mandatory for MBBS and BDS, then state and private medical entrance examinations were announced invalid for MBBS and BDS. Now NEET 2016 is rumored to have being pushed by a year. The loss is entirely that of innocent students, who are now overwhelmed about the situation and cannot distinguish between rumours and facts. Can you blame them?

Validity of NEET 2016 in Doubt?

NEET Phase 1 2016 was conducted on 1st May 2016 and NEET Phase 2 2016 will be conducted on 24th July 2016. Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2016 was conducted on 5th May 2016 for engineering, medical and pharmacy students by the Government of Maharashtra, State Common Entrance Test Cell. This exam as of now is valid for engineering and medical courses other than MBBS and BDS only. Since state run medical entrance exams stand cancelled by the Supreme Court of India, students are applying for NEET Phase 2 2016. Health Minister JP Nadda recently stated that by 20th May 2016, the government may reach a decision, though NEET Phase 2 2016 will be conducted as scheduled on 24th July 2016.

There have been multiple protests all around India with regards to the cancellation of MHT CET 2016 for medical. Students and parents alike have opined that at least for this year state and private exams should not be scraped. Medical aspirants have prepared for respective state and private medical entrance exams and not NEET 2016. The syllabus and pattern too differs.

How can in such short notice students practice for a new exam altogether?  After all, their careers depend on such exams. In case, NEET is made mandatory from next year, majority of state board students recommend that it match state board standards, with respect to pattern and subject matter.

Our advice would be to continue practicing no matter what exam you are giving or will have to give. Kick the nervousness and anxiety out of your system and concentrate on your studies. Good Luck and keep calm.
