Government Postpones NEET, Medical Entrance Exam, by One Year!

Hurrah! The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2016 is postponed by 12 months. Majority of students and parents alike are extremely happy about this decision taken by the Union Cabinet, today dated 20th May 2016. The ordinance postpones NEET by a year as medical aspirants did not have ample of time to prepare for the said entrance examination and the syllabus too deferred.

NEET 2016 Postponed by the Government of India by One Year

The Supreme Court of India in the Writ Petition (C) No(s).261/2016 on 6th MAY 2016 declared that “no examination shall be permitted to be held for admission to MBBS or BDS studies by any private college or association or any private/deemed university”.

NEET Phase 1 2016 was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 1st May 2016 (attempted by almost 6.5 lakh students across India). NEET Phase 2 2016 will be conducted as scheduled on 24th July 2016. NEET, a medical entrance exam for MBBS and BDS, will be applicable this year, 2016, for applicants of the Central government and private management institutions under the management quota.

Health Minister JP Nadda and state ministers had multiple meetings together before they opined that an ordinance must be passed to overrule the decision taken by the Apex Court of India to scrap all state and private medical exams this year. Today they have successfully cleared the ordinance in favour of students, who will be the future medicos of this country.

NEET will be considered as the only valid national medical entrance examination in 2017.

With all the chaos now cleared, students can prepare for further exam with enthusiasm and motivation. For those who have already given state run entrance medical examinations, it is definitely time to unwind and take a vacation. Phew!
