Get Admission in MBBS Colleges through NEET

NEET will now be the single and common medical entrance examination in India for admission in MBBS colleges. Both private and government medical colleges in India would be covered under this exam.

On July 19, Lok Sabha approved The Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill, 2016, and The Dentists (Amendment) Bill, 2016, giving NEET the Constitutional Status. However, this bill will be introduced from the next academic session.

Among all the fuss over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), Lok Sabha approved the bill, making NEET the single entrance exam for medical and dental courses. Take a look below to know about this more.

  • On May 24, 2016 Indian President Pranab Mukherjee gave approval to the ordinance on uniform medical entrance examination, NEET.
  • However, according to his order, state boards can skip NEET for a year. The order aimed at partial disagreement with Supreme Court decision, which said all private medical colleges, deemed universities and government colleges would be covered under NEET.

  • As per President’s order, the state governments will get an opportunity to appear for this year (2016-17) undergraduate examination.
  • However, the post-graduation exam will be conducted under NEET provisions in December 2016
  • It is clearly stated by the Union Health Minister Nadda that private colleges will be covered under NEET provision/bill
  • From 2017, NEET will be the sole medical entrance exam for all MBBS, BDS exams. Also, it will be conducted only on one level, unlike current year’s AIPMT/NEET exam
  • The examination will be based on the NCERT syllabus
  • The undergraduate exam would be held by CBSE while the post-graduation exam will be conducted by the national board of examination

    All the private medical colleges in India will accept only & only NEET scores from this year itself. They can’t conduct their own entrance exams, neither they will be able to take admission via their own entrance exams (if they conducted it before SC order). Thanks Bhavana for sharing this post.
