About MHT CET 2017

To be conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, MHT CET is a yearly entrance exam to select candidates for admission to various undergraduate engineering courses in the state of Maharashtra.

MHT CET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must note that there is no age limit for candidates appearing for MHT-CET 2017.

Below are the eligibility criteria for Maharashtra and outside state candidates, foreign nationals, handicapped applicants, those belonging to MKB area, J&K migrant aspirants, GoI nominees etc.

Maharashtra State Candidates & Outside Maharashtra State Candidates

  • It is mandatory for the aspirants to be Indian Nationals. They should have qualified Class 12th Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Applicants must have earned at least earned at least 45% (PCM combined) marks for general category. Candidates from backward classes and physically challenged/handicapped aspirants belonging to the state of Maharashtra need minimum 40% marks in PCM added together
  • Applicants must have scored a non-zero marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined

MHT CET 2017 Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals/PIO/Children of NRIs/Children of Indian workers in Gulf Countries/Foreign Candidates

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12th examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. They must have got at least 45% marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, combined.
  • Whether a foreign candidate/student is eligible for admission in the state will be decided by the University Authorities from where they passed their Class 12th or equivalent examination. Therefore, such foreign candidates/applicants must get their eligibility verified by the respective University Authorities before seeking admission to the Engineering courses in the State of Maharashtra.
  • Candidates belonging to this category are not required to appear for MHT CET 2017 examination.

MHT CET 2017 Eligibility Criteria for GoI (Government of India) Nominees

  • The applicant must be an Indian national. They should have qualified Class 12th examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and secured minimum 45% marks (minimum 40% marks in case of candidates of Backward Class categories) in the subjects Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry  combined
  • Candidates belonging to this category are not required to appear for MHT CET 2017

MHT CET 2017 Eligibility Criteria for J&K Migrant Candidates

  • Applicant must be an Indian national
  • They should have qualified class 12th Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • They should have secured at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined
  • Applicants belonging to this category are not required for appear for MHT CET 2017

MHT CET 2017 Eligibility Criteria for MKB Applicants

In addition to the basic eligibility criteria mentioned above, candidates who have appeared and earned a non-zero score in MHT CET 2017 and coming from the Maharashtra Karnataka Disputed Border Area should fulfill the below extra criteria.

  • The MHT CET 2017 applicant should be from the towns/villages from the Maharashtra Karnataka disputed border areas, on which Maharashtra places its right.
  • The applicant is required to present the certificate claiming that their father/mother/candidate himself or herself is a resident of Karnataka in the disputed border area as specified in the Proforma  1/G2 OR. Candidate must show the domicile certificate of his/her father/mother/candidate himself/herself stating that they belong to that village or town that comes under MKB area.
  • The candidate should have qualified SSC (or equivalent) and/or HSC (or equivalent) from an Institution situated in the disputed border area.
  • He/she is required to submit certificate from the Principal/Head Master of the College/School stating that the candidate has qualified SSC/HSC (or equivalent) Examination from that institution
  • The candidate should be Marathi speaking i.e. his/her mother tongue should be Marathi
  • He/she needs to produce a certificate from the Principal/Head Master of the School from which he/she has passed the SSC (or equivalent) Examination, declaring that the candidate’s Mother tongue is Marathi as per the original School records
  • He/she should have passed SSC or HSC (or equivalent exam) with Marathi as one of the main subjects.

MHT CET 2016 Eligibility criteria for Handicapped Candidates

In addition to scoring minimum 40% marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined, the applicants who has appeared and secured non-zero marks in MHT CET 2016 and suffering from any one of the following disabilities are eligible to seek admission against seats for Physically Handicapped candidates.

  • Those who are visually impaired (blind) (type P1)
  • Those who are speech and hearing impaired (deaf and dumb) (type P2)
  • Those suffering from orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Spastic (type P3)

*Note: In order to get the seat under Physically Handicapped quote, the candidate need to produce the certificate (Proforma F/F-1) that mentions that the level of disability is more than 40% and it is permanent.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to Specialized Courses

Candidates seeking admission to some special academic courses or under special provisions need to fulfill the below add on eligibility criteria.

Admission to Mining Engineering

Female candidates are not eligible for admission to Mining Engineering course.

Admission to Bio-Medical/Bio-Tech Engineering Course

Candidates looking for admission to this course must have qualified in Biology in the qualifying examination over and above to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria for candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering/Technology and looking for admission to First Year of Engineering/Technology in Unaided Institutes

  • Diploma holders need to qualify the Diploma course in Engineering/Technology with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidate belonging to Backward category and Physically Handicapped candidate belonging to Maharashtra)
  • Candidate should have passed the exam in English. This means the medium of instruction should be English from AICTE approved Diploma Institutes affiliated to State Boards of technical Education

*Note: In case of a situation whether more than one candidate score equal total marks in Final year of Diploma exam, below steps will be followed:

  • Marks in Mathematics at SSC
  • Grand Total at SSC

Eligible Diploma candidate shall be considered for admission against the Institute level sears in Unaided Private Institutes only.

However, such diploma candidates will not be considered eligible to appear for MHT CET 2017.
