NEET 2016 Merit List Declared by DMER

After a long confusion over admissions to deemed medical universities, the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) released a provisional NEET 2016 Merit List. This list is based on the NEET scores of the students who appeared for the test. Candidates can check the NEET 2016 Merit List at the official website

How to Check NEET 2016 Merit List?

In order to check the provisional merit list of NEET 2016, candidates need to go to the official website of DMER. This list is prepared after adding list of applicants to DMER and respective Deemed University.

Pravin Shinghare, DMER Director said admission to the vacant medical and dental seats in deemed universities will be done based on the merit list. Last month (September, 2016), a lot of deemed universities admitted students based on a separate university-level merit list, creating more confusion among parents and aspirants over the admission procedure. This decision faced huge opposition. Therefore, on September 28, the Supreme Court announced combined counselling for medical admission to private and government colleges. While the admissions were completed on September 30, DMER had announced an extension till October 7.

SC, however, regularized admissions to deemed universities till September 16. These universities have about 1700 seats, out of which according to Shinghare is been filled.

About 400 seats in dental colleges and 430 in medical colleges are unfilled, and admissions to these seats will be based on the merit list declared by DMER.

About NEET

National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET UG) is conducted by CBSE for admission to undergraduate dental and medical courses. It is the single and common medical entrance test in India from 2016.
