Only 6 NEET Centres for 2.5 lakh aspirants in Maharashtra

Medical aspirants appearing for NEET 2017 in Maharashtra are fearing chaos during the exam day. This is because CBSE has allotted only 6 exam centres in the entire Maharashtra state this year. Ironically, this year the number of candidates appearing for the exam has significantly increased. What will happen when the NEET centres are less compared to number of applicants, this is will a story to watch!

The centre list for NEET 2017 is available on the official website http://cbseneet.nic.in/ for you to view. The exam will be conducted at six centres in the state, namely Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Nashik.

Students and their parents are concerned that with fewer NEET centres they might have to travel far-off their locations. A lot of students are worried that they would have to travel far, which will cost them a lot of travel time, especially since the exam is on Sunday; Trains usually an hour or two late from the scheduled time due to mega block.

Subhash Joshi, Trustee, Science Parivar, said that having centres only in cities would create a lot of stress on students from the interiors of Maharashtra. “A region like Ratnagiri, for instance, that has a large number of aspirants for medical entrances, has no centre. This means students from there would have to go to either Mumbai or Pune to appear for the exams. The travel and accommodation in these cities, especially during summers is extremely expensive and not affordable to all parents,” Joshi said. He added: “The state should be the conducting agency instead of the CBSE so that the centres are well spread across the state.”
